Customer: Thales
Project: CTRL Immunisation

Scope of work The route of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) runs in close proximity and parallel to the London, Tilbury and Southend (LT & S) line between Ripple Lane East and Purfleet.

It has been established that electrical interference from the CTRL line will impact on the safe operation of the Network Rail equipment and impose unsafe levels of touch potential in the line side infrastructure that would present a hazard to personnel working in the vicinity.

In order that the impact can be mitigated the physical length of copper cable circuits on the LT & S line will be limited to 2.5km (1.5km around Feeder Stations)

To achieve the reduced copper line circuits, an additional 24 fibre cable and transmission sites are to be installed.

Approximately 14 miles of fibre and copper cables will be installed together with the necessary cable route containment upgrades necessary to facilitate the new cables.
